Description:

Traditionally, lead-time reduction has been placed on logistics by finding faster (more expensive) modes of transportation or ways to process orders faster through the distribution network. Production was handcuffed to certain suppliers or particular regions, whether tied to customers or clusters of factories not allowing easy migration to other suppliers. However, continued globalization and competition has changed that dynamic, and many member companies are exploring different regions of sourcing due to sole supplier issues, capacity, tariffs or lead-time or all of the above.

At this meeting, we will focus on how procurement can have a positive impact on lead-time and what visibility can do to get products to you customers faster.

Ted Sibilsky, VP at Components Company Inc. ( a supplier to many of UWEBC’s members) will come speak to how customers can work with suppliers to drive down lead times and still keep quantity/quality specs and service at a high level. Marc Durant and Jeremy Paltzer from member company Vollrath will give us a peek into how they are tackling lead time visibility and how it is positively affecting their supply chain.
