Details»
Description:

Agile as a methodology has had remarkable success in the business world and has been widely adopted outside the technology realm today. The higher efficiencies and delivery success using Agile is undeniable. As Agile teams and processes mature and it is more widely adopted across organizations, it is important to consider how best to utilize the methodology while managing some of its inherent risks. While most organizations have been able to identify and address risks associated with conventional delivery models, Agile brings in a series of new risks and challenges that needs to be more carefully addressed. The efficiency and nimbleness afforded by Agile methodology is at the cost of more rigorous and rigid constructs surrounding more conventional modes of delivery. While the more conventional methods adhere to stricter governance, decision structures and intense scrutiny, in pursuit of agility such protocols are more honored in the breach than in the observance now. Instead individual teams and product owners are empowered and have wider discretionary authority. Managing risks in such a complex environment can be daunting and places a heavy emphasis on good planning.

The upcoming meeting of the Agile SIG will address how best to address risks within an Agile environment. This would be an exceptional opportunity for Agile team leads, coaches and senior practitioners to discuss how best to manage risks associated with Agile environments and share best practices on planning and executing sprints. Please join your peers from other world-class companies in Wisconsin to discuss how best to incorporate Agile methodology and practices into your technology environments.
