Description

Which emerging technologies deserve a place on your organization’s 2027 agenda? For Wisconsin businesses, the answer depends on how these capabilities can address operational challenges, support employees, strengthen resilience, and create opportunities for growth.

Drawing on technology research and outlooks from Gartner and McKinsey, this UWEBC session will examine four areas:

  • AI agents and intelligent workflows: Coordinating work across systems and business functions, with applications in supply chain management, customer service, finance, and healthcare administration.

  • Physical AI and robotics: Connecting AI with machines, sensors, and physical operations to support manufacturing, warehousing, agriculture, and other environments.

  • Cybersecurity and digital trust: Responding to AI-enabled threats, securing emerging technologies, and maintaining trust and accountability as systems become more autonomous.

  • AI-enabled software development and modernization: Exploring how AI can change application development, systems integration, and legacy modernization, along with the controls needed to maintain quality and security.

Through practical examples and peer discussion, participants will consider the opportunities and tradeoffs these developments present across Wisconsin’s industries. The session will address technology maturity, workforce implications, implementation costs, and organizational readiness to help leaders determine where to experiment, where to invest, and what to monitor.
