Description

Trade compliance teams are being asked to do more with the same resources while managing increasingly complex regulations and documentation requirements. Automation and AI offer new opportunities to reduce manual work, but many organizations are still determining which technologies provide real value and will improve day-to-day operations. This session will explore where technology can make the biggest difference and what organizations should consider before adopting new tools.

Using examples from UWEBC member organizations, we'll explore practical applications such as:

  • automating repetitive tasks like classification support, screening, and document preparation
  • improving data quality to reduce compliance errors and rework
  • integrating compliance processes with ERP and other business systems
  • identifying tasks where human review remains essential and AI should be used only as a support tool

Participants will leave with practical ideas they can apply right away, whether they're evaluating new technology or looking to get more value from existing systems. We'll discuss how to identify good candidates for automation, ask better questions when evaluating vendors, and take a measured approach to AI that improves efficiency without increasing compliance risk.
