Joe Hamann

Joe Hamann is the Executive Director of the Connected Systems Institute (CSI) at UWM, with mission to enable the future manufacturing workforce and accelerate economic development of manufacturers through education, technology advancement, and advanced manufacturing knowledge leadership. Joe also leads UWM’s work at the Microsoft AI Co-Innovation Lab on campus at UWM in the CSI. He started his career in R&D at Xtalic Corporation and transitioned to Regal Rexnord Corporation, where he advanced to the role of Senior Director of Global Engineering.

Joe has extensive career experience in leading complex technical initiatives in manufacturing, continuous improvement programs, and industry-university collaborations, with a passion for coaching and mentoring early career engineers and future leaders.

He earned BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from University of WisconsinMadison and an MBA from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
