Description

The health and safety of our members is the UWEBC’s top priority. UW–Madison is monitoring the COVID-19 situation in collaboration with local, state and federal agencies. Based on campus' guidance, this meeting will be held via web only to allow our members a convenient and safe way to attend.

Benchmarking against other members on a particular topic is one advantage of being a UWEBC member. Despite differences in the types of business, products and origin, the broad scope of trade compliance lends itself well to sharing best practices among members that don't necessarily have the exact same challenges.

In this installment of the trade compliance SIG, we will look at best practices in building an import compliance program, both from those starting to build, to those refining an already in place program and how to prepare for the future. Ruth Girmscheid from ICS will lead us through some best practices learned from her time at Johnson Controls and as the owner of a customs brokerage. Mark Stiffler, Senior Import/Export Project Lead for Sub Zero, will share best practices they have put in place to keep the supply chain and executive teams informed in this ever changing environment. We will be asking UWEBC members to prepare questions for our on-line panel (TBD) to discuss and answer. Please note, a meeting specific to export compliance will be held at a future date.

Participate in asking the questions: You’ll have the opportunity to play an active part in shaping the questions for this session – and to maximize its relevance for you – by suggesting questions for our panel of experts (TBD) either at sign-up or by asking the moderator questions via your computers during the presentation.
