The Human Side of Transformation: The People Track at the Annual Conference

Technology is advancing, workforce expectations are shifting, and organizations are under pressure to adapt. But amid all this change, what truly drives successful transformation? At the 2026 UWEBC Annual Conference, People Track speakers explored a common answer: the
people behind the progress.

Mindy Geisser, Chief People Services Officer at Savers, explored how organizations can maintain trust, engagement, and performance during times of transformation. She emphasized that purpose and values cannot simply exist on paper; they must be reflected in everyday leadership decisions, employee experiences, and organizational practices. Her message was a reminder that strong workplace cultures are built through consistent actions, not a single initiative.

But even the strongest culture must evolve alongside the workforce. Becky Frankiewicz, President and Chief Strategy Officer at ManpowerGroup, addressed the challenge of delivering results today while preparing employees for tomorrow. Join us in celebrating that Becky will become the fifth CEO of the $18 Billion in revenue company’s almost 80-year history effective January 1, 2027. (Manpower news) As AI reshapes job responsibilities and required skills, she encourages leaders to embrace continuous learning and focus on using technology to elevate human capabilities rather than replace them.

That need for continuous learning was also central to Anne Trumbore’s session. As co-author of The Future Is Now, Trumbore shared research on how leading organizations are rethinking talent development as AI changes the nature of work. She highlighted the shift toward skills-based development and the growing importance of making learning an ongoing part of employees’ everyday experiences.

Of course, preparing people for change is only part of the challenge. Organizations also need leaders who can turn strategy into action. Antonia Turnquist, Director of Talent Strategy & Acceleration at Zendesk, demonstrated how leadership development can move beyond traditional training programs to create lasting impact. By building leadership platforms and manager communities, organizations can better equip leaders to guide their teams through transformation.

The takeaway? The future of work isn’t just about keeping up with technology. It’s about building the trust, skills, and leadership capabilities that allow people and organizations to move forward together.
